We recently stayed at Rockliffe Hall Hotel and Spa to celebrate our daughter’s birthday, and the experience was truly exceptional from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. They were attentive, friendly, and went out of their way to make us feel special. The hotel itself is stunning — luxurious yet warm and inviting, despite the renovations to the Old Hall. Our room was on the ground floor in the New Hall and was extremely spacious, immaculately clean, and offered beautiful views of the grounds and the golf course. The little details really stood out: fluffy robes, high-end toiletries, and a turn-down service that made the whole experience feel indulgent. The spa facilities were top-notch - serene, well-maintained, and a perfect place for some quiet relaxation along with a few glasses of bubbly in the beautiful Garden Room. The staff at the spa were also excellent, ensuring everything ran smoothly and comfortably. We had a drink in the bar whilst watching the England Ladies Euro cup final on the huge TV screen outside. We then dined in the Club House Restaurant and were very impressed by both the quality of the food, the service and the staff - even surprising our daughter with a little birthday treat of handmade fudge. Breakfast was beautiful, a selection of buffet including pastries, cereals and continental as well as offering a menu of full English or other cooked to order dishes. All in all, Rockliffe Hall exceeded our expectations in every way. It’s the kind of place where luxury meets genuine hospitality, and we’re so glad we chose it for such a special occasion. We’ll definitely be returning - and recommending it to friends and family!

So disappointed with our Spa day. £450 and lunch is now a sandwich and chips. My wife doesn’t eat bread so had to settle for fish fingers and chips. Over £16 for basically a McDonalds happy meal. Spa was ruined by three ladies who thought it was ok to shout and scream in what is supposed to be a tranquil area. Staff did nothing and let them continue. Terrible experience.

We visited to try the pop up champagne & burger menu on Terra restaurant. We used to be regular guests at Rockcliffe but the last time we went, after lockdown, it was really poor. So we thought we’d try this deal. It was great. Started the evening with a delicious bottle of Cote de Province on the bar, sat outside watching the rabbits play. The pop up was absolutely delicious. We both had signature burger followed by cheesecake. All tasty and perfectly cooked. Burger was just a lovely balance of meat, sauces, pickle. Yum. It’s clearly popular and teas nice to see the restaurant busy. The service was impeccable throughout. Friendly, welcoming, explaining the options. Took the opportunity to explain the improvements being made. A great evening.

My wife & I had not previously visited Rockliffe, except for a coffee & a viewing. We were impressed. However, our expectations increased when we learned of the appointment of James Close as culinary director & his team from the Raby Hunt ( a favourite of ours). With this good news we made booking arrangements immediately for a few nights. Since our first stay under Jame's influence we have witnessed a steady improvement in all the food options across all meals in the available eating locations. On our most recent 3 night sojourn our culinary experiences were nothing short of outstanding. Our Saturday night in a busy Terra restaurant was the Burger & Champagne extravaganza. What a delight. I started with a Gibson Martini, my wife had a glass of the recommended champagne. Our Meal began with a trio of chilled starters, including lobster cocktail, salmon tartare Isle of Wight tomatoes puttanesca. Our main course Brooklyn Burgers, consisting of medium rare, dry aged Yorkshire beef, dill pickle, American cheese served in a brioche bun with with fries were superb, nicely complemented by a bottle of spatburgunder. For dessert we shared a fabulous blueberry cheesecake, so light & delicious, excellently crafted by Maria Close. On the Sunday ( which also happened to be fathers day) we enjoyed a late lunch in the Clubhouse. We with delicious shrimp cocktail & a wedge of pork pie along with the most superb piccalilly ever! ( sadly I was unable to buy a bottle to take away) For mains we had one plate of roast lamb served pink plus mint sauce and another of medium rare roast beef with nice hot horseradish. Both roasts were served with Yorkshire pud, roast pots & carrots, and mixed greens. Our fabulous lunch was washed down with a splendid bottle of Nuits St George. We left the Clubhouse after 2.5 hours fully sated & did not need to eat again until breakfast next day. In conclusion, the highlights of our most recent stay were all culinary. However, during our 3 days at the hotel we interacted with professional, yet friendly fom Housekeeping through to Sommelier. All of them too numerous to name were at the top of their game & made for a memorable visit. We can't wait to return for the El Camino latin feast. Barrie & Julie

We had a lovely comfortable stay at this pristine hotel. The rooms are very spacious and air conditioned. Our room was ground level with an opening out to golf course with our own outdoor table and chairs. Everything spotlessly clean. Bedding changed each day. I had to request non feather bedding for one bed which was done without hesitation. Separate toilet and shower facility made it easier while sharing as a family. Breakfast cooked to order where the staff couldn't have been more helpful and kind. My son had a mocha and said it was the best he has had. Man working in the bar was wonderfully helpful and knowledgeable showing an interest in people . The golf course was v impressive where my son and husband played. I enjoyed a swim in the pool which was air conditioned and the changing facilities spotlessly clean. Everything was as youd expect at a 5 star hotel. If I was to be constructively critical, the only fault was the art work displayed in the corridors being repetitive. A little more imagination to the interior design would create for a more interesting space.

Went for a golf weekend and had a wonderful time. The staff in the hotel and the golf club could not have been more helpful. Course was fun and challenging. FOod was great too. Only down side was a rude officious man on security at the entrance gate.
